Saturday, March 8

The 31st annual Texas State Sacred Harp Convention met on the second Sunday and Saturday before in March, at Coker Global Methodist Church. Song selections were from The Sacred Harp, 1991 Edition. This convention is normally held on the fourth weekend in February, but due to a church related event, the facility was not available on that weekend, therefore, the convention was delayed for a couple of weeks. Chairman Scott Curran was absent on Saturday. Janie Short addressed the class with a welcome address. Vice Chairman Cody Gonzales led 106 for the opening song. Gaylon Powell offered the opening prayer.

Tristan Gordon read the following list of names of the deceased: Tom Kane, James Jones, Elaine Peveto, Esther Huckaby, and Chloe Webb. He then led 48t in their memory. Tom Owen offered the closing prayer for the memorial lesson.
