The first Columbus Mississippi Sacred Harp singing was held in the main room of the Columbus Arts Council on the second Saturday in November. Bobby Neyman, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, organized the memorial singing. Mr. Neyman taught a singing school for newcomers at 9:00 a.m. The singing began at 10:00 a.m. John Van Horn offered the opening prayer.

A memorial lesson was conducted for the following people: Sam Ellard Smith, Hugh Bill McGuire, Lee Grande Kibler, Susanna Kaufman, John Joe Heiston, William Allen, Earl Yarber, Annie Lou West McGee, James Beasley, Nora Beasley, and Ruby Walker. John Van Horn gave special remembrance for Hugh Bill McGuire. Joe Thompson offered prayer. Bobby Neyman led 117 (CH).
Announcements were made. Bobby Neyman led 62 as the closing song. Matt Bell dismissed the class with prayer.
