The annual Texas State Sacred Harp Convention met at the College Station Conference Center for its tenth annual session. Chairman Sarah Coates welcomed singers at 9:30 a.m., and led song on page 34b.

Chairman Sarah Coates appointed Liz Owen to act as Secretary Pro-tem in the absence of Secretary Vivian Rogan. Jeb Owen offered the invocation.

Amanda Owen then remembered those sick and shut-ins with song on page 70t. Those names called were: Curtis Owen, Edith Owen, Verna Powell, Frances Daniels, Ophelia Matthews (got sick last night), Myrl Jones, Myra Palmer, Junior Smith, Lawson Smith, Kelly Beard, Ernestine Pipkin, Monnie Ross, and Sylvia Ross. The memorial lesson was closed, and the class was dismissed for lunch.

Chairman Sarah Coates led songs 76b and 183 to call the class to order for the afternoon session.

A business session was held to hear reports. The Nominating Committee recommended the following slate of officers for the 2003 session: Chairman—Gary McDonald; Vice Chairman—Ryan Ross; Secretary/Treasurer—Liz Owen. The slate was approved as presented.

In the Treasurer’s report, Vivian Rogan reported on donations received and expenses incurred by the convention. The business session was closed.
