Friday, October 23

The 2nd annual Alaska Sacred Harp Convention was held at the United Methodist Church in Sitka, Alaska, on Friday evening and Saturday before the fourth Sunday in October. David Lee of Hoboken, Georgia, conducted a singing school Friday evening, giving an overview of the Sacred Harp tradition and rudiments.

Saturday, October 24

Kari Lundgren called the class to order Saturday morning by leading 31b. Chaplain William Davis offered the morning prayer.

Karen Willard and Steve Helwig conducted the memorial lesson. Steve Helwig spoke for those who were sick and shut-in and led 340 for Rodney Willard, Barbara Willard, and Kathryn Hopp.

Karen Willard spoke for the deceased and led 330b in memory of the following: Leta Marshall, Bruce Heiner—Washington; Ron Brownell—Arizona; Don Welch—Florida; Francile Bue—Minnesota; Dale McMurren—Montana. The chaplain closed the memorial lesson with prayer.
