The 23rd annual session of the Illinois State Sacred Harp Convention was opened by Berkley Moore leading 33b. Mark Graber offered the opening prayer.
Berkley Moore welcomed the singers and made announcements. The books used were The Sacred Harp, 1991 Edition, and the Missouri Harmony, 2005 revision (MH).

Mike Hinton reminded us of those who are now singing in the eternal hollow square and quoted from an inscription on a fountain at the Taylorville courthouse: “...when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.” He then led 146 in memory of the following deceased: LaRue Allen, B.J. Harris, Richard K. Mauldin, Sr., Marie Guthrie, Flarce Creel, and Wilton Donaldson—Alabama; John McDougall, Kath Dunn, Gill Blackmore, and Edna Leonard—United Kingdom; Therrsa Summer, Bertha Dalrymple, Art Blase, Brian Meiercord, and Martin Lakomiak—Illinois; Mary Ballinger—Texas; Mirjana (Minja) Lausevic—Minnesota; Dennis Dilno—New York. Johanna Fabke closed the memorial lesson with prayer.
