The 109th session of the Walker County Sacred Harp Convention was held at First Presbyterian Church, Jasper, Alabama, on Saturday before the third Sunday in July. The class was called to order by Brenda Chafin leading 30t. The opening prayer was offered by Isaac Greene.

A business session was held and the following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman-Brenda Chafin; Vice Chairman-Tom Booth; Secretary-Carolyn Thompson.

RECESS

Tom Booth brought the class back together by leading 47t. Leaders: Lisa Geist 391, 394, 472; Carolyn Thompson 535, 208, 228; Bridge Hill Kennedy 212, 448b, 489; Beth Branscome 36b, 84, 565; Leeanne Carter 47b, 86, 300.

The memorial lesson was conducted by Butch White and Leeann Carter. Butch read the names of the following deceased: Earl Ballinger, Ozella Blackmon, Gaston White, Tommie Spurlock, Jerry Kitchens, Carol Fannin, Geraldine Sharpton, and Henry Guthery—Alabama; Chloe Webb—Texas; Dan Brittain—Arkansas. Leeann Carter led 163b.

Leeann Carter read the following as the sick and shut-ins: Theresa Westmoreland, Daryl Parker, Ernestine Parker, Marlin Beasley, Jim Aaron, Betty Baccus, and Kaylee Stewart. Tom Booth led 371. Prayer was offered by Butch White before the noon meal.

LUNCH

Amber Davis led 192 to begin the afternoon session. Leaders: Amber Davis 436 (in memory of Ozella Blackmon), 373 (for her mother); Eleanor Porter 142, 56b, 107; Larry Ballinger 56t, 97, 157; Brenda Chafin 76t; Butch White 326; Isaac Greene 69b; Bea Aaron 101t; Louise Yeager 112; Carolyn Thompson 67; Bridge Hill Kennedy 89; Beth Branscome 31t. Announcements for future singings were made.

Brenda Chafin led 69t as the closing song. Butch White offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
