Minutes of Sacred Harp Singings

The 3rd annual Sally Coghlan Memorial Singing was held at the Davis United Methodist Church in Davis, California. Lindy Groening called the class together leading 52t. Dave Davidson-Methot offered the opening prayer.

In a business meeting, the following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman—Pat Coghlan; Vice Chairman—Lindy Groening; Secretary—Dan Harper; Treasurer—Stu Pettygrove; Arranging—Carolyn Deacy.

Nancy Novotny of Portland, Oregon, conducted a singing school. She taught some of the rudiments of music for the many new singers present, and led the class in singing 49t, 105, 274t, and 40.

Dave Davidson-Methot closed the memorial lesson with a prayer.

The Secretary reported seventy-two singers sang seventy-nine songs led by forty-two leaders. The Treasurer reported expenses had been met. Aisha Morgan and Elaine Denny thanked those who made the singing possible, and the class voted unanimously to meet again next year on Saturday before the second Sunday in November.

Lindy Groening and Nancy Novotny led 347 as the closing song. Dave Davidson-Methot offered the closing prayer.
