Labor Day Singing

The annual Labor Day Sacred Harp Singing met at Shoal Creek Church, Talladega National Forest, ten miles north of Heflin, Alabama on the first Monday in September.
Jeff Sheppard called the class to order and led song on page 32t. Harvey Austin offered the morning prayer.

A business session was held, and the class voted to retain the same officers: Chairman—Jeff Sheppard; Vice Chairman—Richard DeLong; Secretary—Mary Lambert Smith; Arranging Committee—Hester Edwards.

Joe Jones gave some of the history of Shoal Creek Church, read the list of the trustees of the Preservation Society of Shoal Creek Church who must be a descendant of the settlers of that community, and told of some of the activities held at the church during the year.
Jeff Sheppard led song on page 35, and the class was dismissed for lunch.
