Victorian Sacred Harp Singing

The 10th annual Victorian All-Day Singing was held at the bluestone hall of Brunswick Uniting Church, Brunswick, Victoria, Australia. The Chairperson, Chris Phillips, led 49t as the opening song, offered an Acknowledgement of Country to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and welcomed singers to the All-Day Singing. The Chaplain, Alexis Halverson, offered the opening prayer.

Shawn Whelan taught an introductory singing school on the unique style Sacred Harp singing and practice. The singing school included practice of determining intervals using the shapes and singing 49t.

The Chairperson thanked those who worked hard to make the All-Day Singing happen, including officers, committee members, and the singing school teacher. The Secretary reported that twenty-one singers from two states had sung sixty songs led by twelve leaders. The Treasurer reported that donations had been received. Announcements were made, and thanks were given, especially to the visiting singers.

Melanie Albrecht led 340 as the closing song. Alexis Halverson offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
