The 10th Annual Oxford Sacred Harp Singing Day was held on Saturday before the fourth Sunday in June. Edwin Macadam called the class to order at 10:00 a.m. leading 287. Ken Baddley offered the opening prayer.
The following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman—Edwin Macadam; Vice Chairman/Secretary—Sheila Girling Macadam; Arranging Committee—Steve Fletcher and Nick Hall; Chaplains—Ken Baddley and Bernard Collard.
Sheila Girling Macadam conducted a brief singing school leading 49t. Ken Baddley conducted the memorial lesson, reading from Ecclesiastes 12 and leading 28t in memory of the following deceased: Joyce Leigh, Harold Morris, Robert Taylor, Hélène La Rue, Peter Hampson, Sally Buxton’s Dad, John Hicks, John Hall, Beatrice Davies, and Raymond Ayres—UK; LaRue Allen and Amanda Denson Brady—Alabama.
The sick and housebound were recalled by Bernard Collard. Sheila Girling Macadam led 340 for the following: Sylvia Thomas, Ron Trippier, Rex Cousins, Gladys Buchanan, Nicola Wilson-Smith, Stan Shaw, Yvonne Blake, David Lee, and Ivy Hughes. The memorial was closed.
The class resumed singing with Dave Townsend leading 155.
