Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rogers Memorial Singing

The annual memorial singing for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rogers was held at Ephesus School in Roopville, Georgia on the first Sunday in March. L.L. Rogers called the class to order at 9:30 a.m. with 101t. The invocation was given by Richard Maudlin. B.M. Smith led 73t; Co-Chairmen Denney Rogers and B.M. Smith led 75.

The class was organized with the following officers duly elected and committees appointed: Co-Chairmen—Denney Rogers and B.M. Smith; Secretary—Karen Rollins; Memorial Committee—Paige Harrod and Sherry Lovvorn; Arranging Committee—Mary Florence Smith.

Denney Rogers, mayor of Ephesus, extended a welcome to everyone.

Denney Rogers led 335 to bring the class back to order. The group that attended the Academy Awards (Oscars) in Los Angeles, California spoke a few words and led 137.

The memorial lesson was conducted by Paige Harrod who spoke about the love of the words in Sacred Harp music, and then read the names of the deceased singers and friends.

Rodney Ivey led 122 for the following deceased: Ruth Brown and Gladys Simmons—Alabama; Georgia Foster, Mina Prince, Harold Jackson, and Mozelle Sheppard—Georgia; Betty Haas—Missouri. Charlene Wallace led 570 in memory of Mozelle Sheppard.

Phillip Denney led 27 for the sick and shut-ins which included Beau Caldwell and Mary Ellen Wilkinson. Billy Joe Harris concluded the memorial lesson with prayer.
