Minutes of Sacred Harp Singings

The 21st annual Lincoln’s Birthday singing was held the second Sunday in February at Ida Noyes Hall, University of Chicago, in conjunction with the University of Chicago Folk Festival.

The class was called to order at 1:00 p.m. by Lisa Cohen. Since many people unfamiliar with Sacred Harp attend this singing, she urged new singers to ask questions, and experienced singers to reach out.

The following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman-Lisa Cohen; Secretary-Ginny Landgraf; Arranging Officer-Lisa Cohen.

Rachel Adelstein presented a singing school lesson entitled, “Help! There’s a Piece of Shape-Note Music in Front of Me and I Don’t Know What to Do with It!”. She led 162.
