The Portland Sacred Harp Singing, the first day of Portland’s Double All-Day Singing weekend, was held on Saturday before the first Sunday in May. The class was called to order by Thom Fahrbach and Tamara Wallace leading 171. Pippa Stoddard offered the morning prayer. Tamara Wallace welcomed the class and made a land acknowledgement to recognize the Indigenous Peoples who have tended these lands since time immemorial.

A business meeting was held to elect the following officers: Chairperson—Tamara Wallace; Treasurer—Mischa Skeeter; Secretary—Nancy Novotny.

Nancy Novotny, as Secretary, reported that seventy-three singers from fourteen states, two Canadian provinces, and Germany led eighty-seven songs. Mischa Skeeter, as Treasurer, reported on the progress made toward meeting expenses for the weekend. The following were acknowledged for their roles in helping to ensure a successful singing: Arranging Committee—Carolyn Deacy, Betsy Jeronen, Bob Schinske, and Thom Fahrbach; Kitchen Coordinator—Jamie Dawson; Registration—Nell Whitman.

Following announcements, Tamara Wallace led 36b as the closing song. Pippa Stoddard offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
