The 13th annual Middle Georgia Sacred Harp Singing was held on Saturday before the third Sunday in April. Harry Eskew called the class to order leading 59. John Hollingsworth offered the morning prayer.

A business session was held with the following officers elected to serve: Chairman—Harry Eskew; Vice Chairman—John Plunkett; Secretary—Helen Bryson. Harry Eskew welcomed Mercer University students attending the singing today.

John Plunkett, on behalf of the Sacred Harp Publishing Company, presented a plaque to the family of Raymond Hamrick. In his remarks, John noted that Raymond was very active in the Publishing Company early on. Further, Raymond was noted for being generous with his time, sharing of information, and contributions to Sacred Harp music. He was known as a prolific writer and his dry wit was well known throughout the Sacred Harp community. Accepting the plaque were Raymond’s daughter Patty Dancy and grandson, Joshua Byrd. Raymond’s daughter, Susan Hatfield, could not be in attendance. Also present was Raymond’s niece, Sharon Hamrick.
