The annual Sacred Harp singing held at Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church on the fourth Sunday in September was called to order by B.M. Smith leading 59. The morning prayer was offered by Marlin Beasley.

The following officers were elected or appointed to serve: Chairman—J.L. Hopper; Vice Chairman—Milford Cobbs; Secretary—Judy Caudle; Arranging Officer—Nicholas Thompson.

The memorial lesson was conducted by Judy Caudle. She spoke and read the following list of names of the deceased: Myrtle Ann Beasley, Bud Oliver, Jeff Sheppard, Clayton Ezell, Lessie Reed, Willard Wright, Royce Graham, Steve Cobbs, Max Brown, Gertrude Shaddix, Doug Holcomb, and Dalton Thompson.

She then read the following list of names of the sick and shut-ins: S.T. Reed, Betty Wright, Betty Shepherd, Josie Hyde, Shelbie Sheppard, and Dean Thompson. Judy led 472.
