The J.D. Starnes Memorial Sacred Harp Singing was held at Mt. Hope Baptist Church on the first Sunday in February. Henry Guthery called the class to order leading 50b. The morning prayer was offered by Richard Mauldin. Henry Guthery led 34b.

Leaders: Kermit Adams 33b, 37b, 36b; Elizabeth Keeton 32t, 30t, 504; Henry Guthery III 434, 436, 45b; Willodean Barton 498, 454; Faye Donaldson 371, 270, 138t; Richard Mauldin 312b, 378t, 100 (in memory of Wilton Donaldson).


The class was called together by Glenn Keeton leading 49b (in memory of his co-worker who was killed in a work accident, and Roxy Keeton who died yesterday, February 2nd), 358, and 294.

The class was organized by electing or appointing the following officers: Co-Chairmen—Henry Guthery and Glenn Keeton; Arranging Committee—Willodean Barton and Travis Keeton; Secretary—Margaret Keeton.

Leaders: Harrison Creel 111b, 512; Margaret Keeton 144, 217, 137; Josie Hyde 349 (in memory of Roxy Keeton), 507, 165. The pastor of the church, Patrick Watson, welcomed everyone and asked the blessing on the noon meal.


The afternoon session was brought to order by Henry Guthery leading 465. Henry Guthery led 521 as the closing song. After announcements, Harrison Creel dismissed the class with prayer.
