The 23rd annual Sacred Harp singing was held in Cowden Hall at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas, on the last Saturday of the month of January. This is the sixteenth year that the “1991 Revision of the Sacred Harp” has been used.

Dr. Gordon Borror, a faculty member of the School of Church Music at Southwestern, opened with prayer at 8:30 a.m. Mrs. Beverly Coates gave a brief history of Sacred Harp singing, and led a “how-to” session. Everyone was dismissed until 9:30 a.m.

Dr. Tim Studstill called the morning session to order at 9:30 a.m. by leading 59. Dr. Borror introduced Dr. Stephen Johnson, Dean of the School of Church Music at Southwestern, and recognized the students of Southwestern who were in attendance. Dr. Johnson welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming. Dr. Studstill prayed, and then introduced Tim Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds gave a brief history of Dr. Reynolds’s Sacred Harp involvement, and led 84.
