The 1st annual Swannanoa Gathering Shape Note Singing was held at Warren Wilson College Chapel in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Books used were The Sacred Harp, 1991 Edition (SH), The Southern Harmony (SoH), and The Christian Harmony, Carolina Edition (CH).
Ron Pen called the singing to order at 10:00 a.m., welcomed everyone and thanked Warren Wilson College and Chapel for use of the facilities. Ron Pen then led 73b. Scott Swanton offered the opening prayer.
The following officers were elected or appointed to serve for the day: Chairman—Ron Pen; Vice Chairperson—Jane Spencer; Secretary—Chris Wilhelm; Arranging Committee—Dorothy Lane.

RECESS

LUNCH
After lunch, the singing continued from The Southern Harmony. Leaders: Larry Beveridge 22t, 198; Michael Spencer 308; Scott Swanton 51, 78; Dan Huger 89t, 92t; Chris Wilhelm 46; Jane Spencer 260.
A business session was held and the class elected to continue this singing next year with the date to coincide with Old Time Week of The Swannanoa Gathering at Warren Wilson College. The following officers were elected to serve for the 2008 singing: Chairperson—Jane Spencer; Vice Chairman—Ron Pen; Secretary—Chris Wilhelm.
RECESS
The third session of singing was from The Christian Harmony, Carolina Edition. Ron Pen expressed appreciation to all who had helped with the singing and led 267 (SH) as the closing song. Scott Swanton dismissed the class with prayer.
