DeLong and Roberts Memorial Singing

Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church, Dunwoody, Georgia

The annual DeLong and Roberts Memorial Singing held on the fourth Sunday in June at Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church in Dunwoody, Georgia was called to order by Chairman Richard DeLong leading 60. Elder Jesse Roberts offered the morning prayer.

Leaders: Richard DeLong 32t; Andy Anderson 107, 28t; Cathy White 84, 270; Scott DePoy 410t, 277; Lee Rogers 176b, 464; Eric Tweedy 327, 217; Martha Ann Stegar 313t, 268; Andy Morse 448t, 481; Lela Crowder 440, 224; Brady DeLong 61, 101t; Diane Wall 284, 474; Louis Hughes 284, 378b; Mike Castleberry 319, 515. Richard DeLong led 112 for Violet Thomason who was unable to attend due to illness, but who was able to listen via phone to the song being led for her.

A business session was held with the following officers elected or appointed to serve: Chairman—Richard DeLong; Vice Chairmen—Jesse Roberts and Matt DeLong; Secretary/Treasurer—Helen Bryson.


Jesse Roberts called the class to order leading 135. Leaders: Don Bowen 157, 97; Erica Hinton 178, 146; Reuben Ball 318 (for Violet Thomason), 179; Rachel Carlysle 145t, 204; Faye Holbrook 236 (for Lois Hall), 380.

The memorial lesson was held. The flowers placed in the church were in memory of all those singers who have gone on before us. Richard DeLong commented about those who have died during the last year and led 339 in their memory. Jesse Robert led 316. Those remembered were: Kenneth DeLong, Everette Denney, Vivian Rogers, and Revy Williamson—Georgia; Ruth Brown—Alabama.

Jeannette DePoy made remarks concerning those who are sick and shut-ins and led 229 in their honor. Those who were remembered were: Violet Thomason, Lloyd Caldwell, Nora Roberts, Henry Johnson, Myrtle Smith, Nancy Allen, and Loy Garrison. The memorial was closed.


Matt DeLong called the class back to order for the afternoon session leading 329 and 288. Leaders: Phillip Langley 383; Judy Mincey 497; B.M. Announcements were made. Richard DeLong, Matt DeLong, and Jesse Roberts led 62 as the closing song. Elder Edward Cagle offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
