The 166th session of The East Texas Sacred Harp Convention met at the Henderson Civic Center in Henderson, Texas, on the second Sunday and Saturday before in August. The class was called to order by Sam Craig leading 49t. The opening prayer was offered by Robert Vaughn.

Chris Nicholson spoke in honor of the sick and shut-ins and read the following list of names: Ruby Morris, Baron Powers, Lloyd Caldwell, Lynette Howard, David Montgomery, Kevin Powell, Olivia Powell, Landis Powell, Charlotte Powell, Peggy Ray, Bruce Ray, Leon Ballinger, Leo Stanley, and Mary Stanley. Chris led 45t.
Craig Averill spoke in honor of the deceased, and read the following list of names: Margaret Rounsavall, Bob McLemore, Gloria Berendzen, Curtis Owen, Kenneth Sundberg, Harry Eskew, Patricia Blevins, Dale Redmon Jr., Margaret Rowell, Max Berendzen, Floyd Nicholson Jr., Coy Ivey, Sylvia Ross, and Linda Crawford. He led 492. Gaylon Powell led 515 in memory of Linda Crawford, and closed the memorial lesson with prayer.
