The annual Shady Grove Sacred Harp singing held on Saturday before the first Sunday in October was called to order by Syble Adams leading 293b. Mark Brown and Dennis Hall led 40. Bro. Dennis Hall offered the opening prayer. Rex Wilks led 53.
David Lee and Phillip Reese led the class in a review of the major and minor scales. The class sang the scales, and basic chords in each.

A memorial lesson was held at this time. Shane Wootten spoke about the closeness of the Sacred Harp community, and of fellowship within and without. He led 463 in honor of the following sick and shut-ins: Eloise Wootten, Delorese Lee, Anne Chalker, Linda Walton, Curtis Owen, Edith Owen, Matthew Lind, Malachi Lind, Skip Trout, Martha Beverly, Ed Thacker, Margaret Thacker, Milton Brown, Levon Wootten, and Frances Iris.
Shane Wootten, Syble Adams, and Jeff Adcock led “When All of God’s Singers Get Home” in memory of the following deceased: B.M. Smith, Donald Carroll, Kermit Adams, Steve Adams, Ruth Redmon, Oliver Kindig-Stokes, S.T. Reed, Toney Smith, Janelle Davis, Azilee Adams, Joe Nall, Tom Robinson, Jimmie Foreman, Naomi Carroll, Earlis McGraw, and Loraine Bayer. Phil Summerlin closed the memorial service with prayer.
