The Southwest Texas Sacred Harp Convention, Fall Session, held in Austin, Texas, on the fifth Sunday and Saturday before in September was called to order and a welcome issued by Jeb Owen. Jeb led 376, followed by prayer offered by Mike Hinton.
The following officers were previously elected to serve: Chairman—Jeb Owen; Vice Chairman—Billy Huckaby; Arranging Committee and Secretaries—Bruce Coates and Beverly Coates.

A business meeting was held. Scott Curran moved that we submit a petition to host the Young People’s Convention in 2014, on Saturday of the Fall Session of the Southwest Texas Convention, which will be held on the fifth weekend in August. The motion was seconded and carried.
Jeb Owen led 69 to close the Saturday singing. The closing prayer was offered by Elder Sonny Huckaby.
Sunday, September 29
The Sunday session of the Southwest Texas Sacred Harp Singing Convention, Fall Session, was called to order by Jeb Owen leading 68b and 64. The opening prayer was offered by Tom Owen.

The memorial lesson was conducted by Billy Huckaby and Vivian Rogan. Billy Huckaby read the names of the sick and homebound and led 444t as a remembrance of the following: Billy and Eddie Brackin, Curtis and Edith Owen, Doris Hanks, Bobby Evans, Shelbie Sheppard, Claudene Townson, Phillip Wootten, and Berkley Moore.
Vivian Rogan presented a moving memorial to the deceased based upon the definition of memorial. She led 343 in the memory of the following: Anthony Blevins—Texas; Jeff Sheppard and Bud Oliver—Alabama; Evelyn Steinruck—Pennsylvania; Diane Mennella—New York; Martin Mahoney—Massachusetts. Kevin Powell gave a special remembrance of his father-in-law, Elder Anthony Blevins, and led 312 in his memory. Prayer was offered by Elder Sonny Huckaby.

Scott Curran reported that he had heard from the Young People’s Convention, currently under way in Hoboken, Georgia, that our petition to host the Young People’s Convention in August, 2014, in Austin had been accepted. After further announcements and thanks to the Austin singers for their successful hosting of the convention, the officers led 95b as the closing song. The closing prayer was offered by Gaylon Powell.
