The annual Decoration Day Sacred Harp singing was held at Old Flatwoods Primitive Baptist Church on the second Sunday in May. The class was greeted and called to order by Jimmie Gilmore at 10:30 a.m. The morning prayer was offered by Don Keeton.

The assembled singers were few but there were quite a few listeners. The usual formality of the all-day singing was therefore discarded in favor of simply singing songs requested by the listeners and singers, and no formal record was kept. Many of the songs were sung in memory of those gone before, and a sweet session was experienced by all.

The following were present: Jimmie Gilmore, Arthur Gilmore, Dianne Welch, Don Keeton, Sarah Beasley, Seth Holloway, Betty Baccus, Julia Poston, Becky Briggs, George Deavours, Jackie Argo, Jackie Beard, Sophia Davison, Karen Willard, Shirley Tidwell, Ivalene Dutton and her sister Marydean, Kermit Adams, Patricia Phelps, John Keeton, Syble Keeton, Jeanette Johnson and her family from Michigan.

This singing will be held next year at this same date and location, to begin at 10:00 a.m.
