The seventh session of the Furman University Singing was called to order by Vice Chairman Dan Huger (acting for Chairman Frances Carnell, who was unable to attend the singing) leading 210t (CH). John Hollingsworth offered the opening prayer. Jean Osteen Gaston welcomed the class.
In the opening session, all songs were from the “Christian Harmony.” Leaders: Dan Huger 58b; Lee Rogers 21, 51; John Hollingsworth 280t, 162t; Bill Hogan 88, 128t; John Plunkett 323b, 283; Mary Baumeister 80t, 81b; Chip Mays 141b, 249t; Anita Landess 255t, 81t; Bill Burns 293.
RECESS
Dan Huger brought the class back to order leading 139b (CH).
The class was organized with the previous year’s officers re-elected and committees appointed: Chairman—Frances Carnell; Vice Chairman—Dan Huger; Secretary—Lee Rogers; Chaplain—John Plunkett; Arranging—Dan Huger; Finance—Bill Hogan; Locating/Hospitality—Jean Osteen Gaston and John Gaston.
The following songs were led from “The Sacred Harp, 1991 Edition.” Leaders: Chris Berg 178, 267; Diane Eskenasy 155, 200; Steve Walker 71, 107; Becky Walker 61, 480; Sarah Jane Thomas 145t, 59.
LUNCH
Dan Huger opened the afternoon session leading “Ten Thousand Charms” (EH2). Leaders: Lee Rogers 270, 424; John Hollingsworth 409, 401; Bill Hogan 47b, 475; John Plunkett 282, 236; Mary Baumeister 569b, 56b; Chip Mays 344, 474; Anita Landess 164.
RECESS
Dan Huger brought the class to order for the final session leading 103b (CH). All songs in the final session were from the “Christian Harmony.” Leaders: Diane Eskenasy 339, 198; Steve Walker 217, 281b; Becky Walker 105b, 86; Sarah Jane Thomas 245t, 216b; Lester Good and Dan Huger 78b.
The singing was concluded with 200b led as the closing song. John Plunkett dismissed the class with prayer.
