Music: Terry Wootten, 1988

While shepherds watched their flocks by night,
All seated on the ground,
The angel of the Lord came down,
And glory shone around.
On this day is born to you
A Savior meek and mild;
Haste ye all to Bethlehem
And kneel before the Child.

Lay down your crooks and quit your flocks,
To Bethlehem repair;
And let your wand’ring steps be spared,
By yonder shining star.
Seek ye not in palaces,
Nor regal curtains draw.
Search the stable, see your God
Extended on the straw.
