A large number of Sacred Harp singers from a number of U.S. states and the U.K. came together at 2:00 p.m. with family and friends of Hugh McGraw for his funeral at Holly Springs Primitive Baptist Church. Richard DeLong led 36b and 381. Elder Jesse Roberts offered prayer.

Reverend Scott Hannah, husband of Hugh’s daughter Paula, thanked the singers and introduced Buell Cobb. Buell Cobb talked about his long friendship with Hugh McGraw and about Hugh’s contributions and legacy to Sacred Harp. Reverend Scott Hannah conducted a eulogy and ended this by quoting words from the song “Phillip’s Farewell”.

Richard DeLong and Charlene Wallace led 45t. Reverend Scott Hannah offered prayer. Nathan Rees led 146 as Hugh’s coffin was carried from the church.

At the graveside at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Bremen, Georgia, Reverend Scott Hannah read the 23rd Psalm and conducted a prayer. Daniel Williams led 339, and the class was dismissed.
