Dear Singers:
It was registration day today with over 70 singers arriving from 17
states and the United Kingdom for the first year of Camp Fasola.
Sponsored by the Sacred Harp Musical Heritage Association it is a week
long singing school but done in the setting of a summer camp--family
style.
It was a beautiful sunny day, warm but not too hot and the setting was
a rustic old fashion summer camp that has partially taken over by
Sacred Harp singers. Look here (URL link to photos to come:-) for
photographs of registration and the evening meal taken in a wooden
eating hall, complete with long screened in porch with enough rocking
chairs to seat more than a few of the many singers.
After an organizational meeting by Directors David Ivey and Jeff
Sheppard, we then started the week off in fine fashion with an evening
singing followed by a devotional by Sam Sommers. And then we reported
to quarters and lights out at 10. :-)
Each day of the camp this week we will be endeavoring to report on the
days activities.
