The annual Sacred Harp singing at Edwardsville Baptist Church was held the first Sunday in April. Stanley Edwards welcomed everyone and called the class to order leading 59. Henry Johnson offered the morning prayer.

The class organized with the following officers elected or appointed: Chairman—Stanley Edwards; Vice Chairman—Ed Thacker; Secretary—Donna Bell; Arranging Committee—Judy Chambless.

A memorial lesson was conducted by Karen Rollins sharing words from Proverbs 10: 7, stating that the memory of the righteous is blessed, and at this time we reflect on those memories. B.M. Smith led 45t for the following deceased: Percy Owen, Jesse Cotney, Junior Rogers, Hazel Thompson, Myrtle Smith, and Dr. William Reynolds.

Henry Johnson led 68b in honor of the following sick and homebound: Jan House, Eugene Forbes, Mary Florence Smith, Barbara Hamby, Cordie Robinson, Harrison Creel, and Dr. Robert Hines. The memorial lesson was closed with prayer offered by Cecil Roberts.

Announcements were made. Jeff Sheppard reported that some of the Cates descendants performed much needed repair work on State Line Church, near Muscadine, Alabama. Lonnie Rogers and Denney Rogers have agreed to replace the tin above the eating tables and SHMHA will cover the cost. The work should be completed by Saturday’s singing at the church.

The singing concluded with Stanley Edwards leading 42. Henry Johnson offered the closing prayer, and the class was dismissed.
