The J.D. Starnes Memorial Sacred Harp Singing was held at Mt. Hope Baptist Church on the first Sunday in February. Velton Chafin called the class to order leading 31t. Brother Phillip Starnes offered the morning prayer. Velton Chafin led 32t and 30t.

The class organized for the day with the following officers elected or appointed: Chairman—Travis Keeton; Vice Chairman—Velton Chafin; Secretary—Josie Hyde; Arranging Committee—Willowdean Barton.

Brother Phillip Starnes, pastor of the church, welcomed everyone, read scripture form Exodus 15:1-8, and offered the blessing on the noon meal.
