Harper Memorial Singing

Old Flatwoods Primitive Baptist Church, Nauvoo, Alabama

The annual Harper Memorial Sacred Harp Singing was held at Old Flatwoods Primitive Baptist Church on the second Sunday in October, and was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Glenn Keeton leading songs on pages 37b and 32t. Elder Philip Gilmore led the morning prayer. Glenn Keeton led song on page 64.

The class organized with the following officers elected or appointed to serve: Chairperson—Ashley Keeton; Vice Chairman—Joshua Keeton; Secretary—Jimmie Gilmore; Arranging Committee—Jimmie Gilmore and Arthur Gilmore; Memorial Committee—Jimmie Gilmore; Chaplain—Elder Philip Gilmore.

The Harper memorial lesson was led by Arthur Gilmore, Jimmie McGough Gilmore, Philip Gilmore, Paula Gilmore, Joe Gilmore, Leslie Gilmore, Ila Harper Ingle, Karen Ingle Wiggins, Josie Harper Hyde, Joshua Keeton, Ashley Keeton, Tyler Montgomery, Rebekah Gilmore, John Gilmore, and Grace Gilmore leading songs on pages 235, 392, and 45t for all the deceased Harper family members and for friends who are sick and shut-ins.

The blessing on the noon meal was offered by Marlin Beasley after a good morning of singing praises to God.
