The ninety-seventh session of the Lookout Mountain Sacred Harp Singing Convention was held on the fourth Sunday and Saturday before in August at Pine Grove Church near Collinsville, Alabama.

A memorial lesson was held by Wayne Reed, Henry Johnson, and Shelbie Sheppard. Wayne Reed read a passage of scripture and spoke of the way we should live.

Shelbie Sheppard made comments about the message contained in the song on page 289, and then led the song for the following deceased: Rosa Hughes, Marie Aldridge, Virgil Phillips, Ruby Phillips, Herbert Phillips, Shelton Williamson, Ester Wall Brown, Karen House, Horace Batchelor, Carrol Ivey, Mercedes Cagle Lambert, Waylon Roache, Alice Meadows, Lois Sheldon, and Horace Upton.

Henry Johnson reminded us that we should remember the sick and shut-in by visiting, phoning, or sending a card to cheer them up, let them know we are thinking about them; and led song on page 385t for: Mary Stiefel, Woodie Walker, Alpha Black, Lawrence Underwood, Lula Underwood, Polly Moore, Tommye Denson Mauldin, John Henry Busby, Audra Browne, Mozelle Sheppard, Estella Klatt, Jap Walton, and Joyce Walton. Louis Hughes closed the memorial with prayer.
