Warrior River-Clear Creek Convention

The one hundred twenty-sixth session of the Warrior River Convention and the one hundred first session of the Clear Creek Convention were held at Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church on Saturday before the first Sunday in August. Terry Hullett called the conventions to order at 9:45 a.m. leading song on page 32t. Elder J.L. Hopper offered the morning prayer.

The memorial lesson was given by Elder Philip Gilmore and Linda Thomas, who led song on page 499 for the deceased: Virgil Phillips, Mary Oden, Willard Hopper, Rev. James Putman, Ester Wall Brown, Rosa Hughes, and Shirley Lowe Brown.

Elder Philip Gilmore and Linda Thomas led song on page 45t for the sick and shut-ins: Ruby Phillips, Herbert Phillips, Lawrence Underwood, Lula Underwood, Polly Moore, Ruby Wilks, Woodie Walker, Mary Stiefel, Annie Brothers, and Lillie Lybrand. The memorial was closed.

A business session was held. Old Clear Creek Church near Boaz, Alabama will host the convention on Saturday before the first Sunday in August in 2001.

Elder Philip Gilmore gave the Resolutions Committee report.

BE IT RESOLVED:

(1) We would like to thank the members and friends of Mt. Moriah Church for being such gracious hosts;

(2) The officers and committee for their efforts;

(3) All who brought food;

(4) The singers and listeners from far and near;

(5) But most of all we offer thanks and praise to God for all gifts, especially the gift of song, and for the young people who are singing in the Sacred Harp; and

(6) Let us remember those who have passed away, along with those who are unable to attend.

WE RESOLVE THAT: God willing, we hope to meet again at the Warrior River-Clear Creek Convention in 2001.

The Finance Committee reported a balance brought forward of $102.45. A collection was given in the amount of $116.30. The convention agreed to give the collection of $116.30 to the church. A total of $30.00 was taken from the previous balance to pay for the minutes, leaving a total on hand of $72.45. The business session was closed.

Terry Hullett and Elder Philip Gilmore led 501 (CB) (by request). Terry Hullett and Elder Philip Gilmore led song on page 30b as the closing song. Elder Philip Gilmore dismissed the class with prayer.
